NimbleX 2008 RC was released a few days ago and it contains some very nice applications and improvements: "I am very pleased to announce the Release Candidate of NimbleX 2008! Since Beta there are major differences and it's the closest thing I can imagine to final version. Actually the main reason for calling it RC is the eventuality some important bug sneaked in."- says Bogdan Radulescu, the main developer. Below is a list with the major changes since the beta release:

? lost 16MB to be back to 200MB; ? Addition of the NimbleX USB Installer; ? Improvements to the Safe Installer; ? NimbleX is now split in 9 for greater flexibility; ? Added important software like: LinuxDC++, AviDemux and the GSlapt Package Manager; ? Polished many things so that it pleases the eye; ? Compiz was added and configured in NimbleX. For starters, everyone that has a 3D card supported out of the box by X can enjoy the 3D effects. Hopefully, in the future, people will contribute to package drivers for this feature; ? ...and many more other changes.

NimbleX is a small but versatile operating system based on the popular Slackware Linux. You can boot it from a small 8 cm CD or an USB flash drive. Because it runs entirely from a CD or USB, it doesn?t require installation or even a hard drive. NimbleX was build with the help of linux-live scripts. What can you do with NimbleX? Look below for a nice list with its features:

? Access data on other computers without knowing the password; ? Surf the Internet, download files using various protocols; ? Chat with friends using a very nice IM (Instant Messenger) application; ? Play movies because most of the video codecs are supported; ? Play music either in the graphical interface and the CLI (command-line interface); ? Make NimbleX always save your data very easily; ? Use the built-in bluetooth support to transfer files; ? Use a pretty good office suite - KOffice 1.6.1; ? Get organized with the very powerful Kontact application; ? Debug other operating systems with NimbleX; ? Back-up data easily using various methods; ? Make NimbleX boot on other computers over the LAN; ? Play some of the various KDE Games; ? Install software over the Internet using GSlapt; ? Control remotely Windows machines with rdesktop; ? Browse Windows networks with no complications; ? Read PDF documents with the built-in software; ? NimbleX can be made to boot from any bootable device; ? NimbleX can be very fast if you boot it from HDD or USB; ? You can use several graphical interfaces (KDE, IceWM, Fluxbox); ?
