In a recent press release, the famous Japanese optics manufacturer announced its new partnership with Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Ca.

This strategic alliance is meant to bring Nikon, a global leader in imaging products, and Disney, the world's leading family vacation destinations, to a multi-year agreement from which both sides could benefit.

As the “Official Camera of Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts,” Nikon will replace the current “Kodak Picture Spots” placed in strategic locations such as Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Park with its own branded Picture Spots throughout both Disney parks.

Nobuyoshi Gokyu, president of Nikon Inc. declared that, “The alliance between Nikon and Disney allows us to connect with millions of passionate Disney guests who want to tell their stories through the capture of amazing imagery”. He then added, “Through this agreement, Nikon will play an integral role in helping Disney guests to preserve and share every unforgettable moment.”

Nikon will also be integrated with Disney PhotoPass Service and will provide guests with exclusive Nikon cameras and accessories to capture unique moments from their vacation.

Disney Fine Art Photographers at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons, as well as Adventure Guides with Adventures by Disney will also use Nikon cameras exclusively.

Regarding the new alliance, Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, US and France said that, “Our Disney Parks are among some of the most photographed locations in the world, so it is only natural for us to further develop our relationship with Nikon, who shares our commitment to capturing magical moments and making memories.”

Disney has ended its long lasting contract (since 1955) with Eastman Kodak at the end of 2012, after the company was declared bankrupt at the beginning of the same year. No further information has been given about the duration of the contract and its actual terms.
