Nikon has made available a new firmware update targeted at its FT1 L mount adapter, namely version 1.20, which adds support for autofocus function when mounted on the Nikon 1 V3 digital camera.

Bear in mind that, in order to upgrade the firmware version successfully, Nikon 1 V1, 1 V2, 1 J1, 1 J2, 1 J3, and 1 S1 digital cameras’ currently installed build must be the latest one available; if this task isn’t carried out properly, the FT1 will not be updated accurately.

Therefore, ensure that the camera’s firmware version satisfies the recommendations, and only afterwards attach the mount adapter to the device.

As for the packages, Nikon has outed 2 downloadable records: one compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems, and the other targeted at Mac OS platforms – so make sure you get and run the proper file.

Now, copy “FT1_0120M.bin” from within the newly created folder onto a formatted memory card, insert it into the camera’s SD slot, and power on the device. Go to Setup Menu → Firmware Version and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete installation.

After the process has finished, simply turn off the camera and remove the SD card. You can also power the device back on and go to the currently installed firmware to check if the upgrade has been successful.

That being said, download Nikon FT1 L Mount Adapter Firmware 1.20 for the compatible OS, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the latest version, and enjoy your newly updated device.
