Today, after over a month since the last camera was updated, Nikon’s team has released new firmware versions for 9 of its digital SLR cameras. Each camera has two download records: one Windows- and one MAC-based file.

Specifically speaking, the new versions are C:1.01 for the D600 and D3200, A:1.01/B:1.02 for the D3X, D800, and D800E, and A:1.02/B:1.02 for D3S cameras. Moreover, there is the A:1.03/B:1.04 version for D7000, A:1.05/B:1.03 for D4, and A:2.03/B:2.03 for D3 D-SLR devices.

Although the release notes are a little different, I will highlight only some of them for each camera. You are able to see all the changes that the firmware will make through the bottom link.

The new packages add support for AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR, improve AF-C (continuous-servo autofocus) subject tracking performance, and fix an issue with the right edges of images being white when shooting with specific settings.

Moreover, they change the frame output size from 95% to 100%, but only if a HDMI-compatible device is connected and also, the movie live view display has the “Information Off” stamp.

In addition, resolve a camera crash problem when the shutter-release button is pressed repeatedly for uninterrupted shooting, as well as the rare cases of coloring issues when shooting with white balance, preset manual, or choose color temp settings.

As for installing the packages, run the downloadable file (from the camera-related link) to create a folder in which you will find a .bin firmware file. Copy it onto a memory card, insert it into the camera, and go to Firmware Version option.

By following the onscreen instructions, you will manage to update the firmware. Bear in mind that while the upgrade is in progress, the camera mustn’t be switched off under any circumstances.

Now, by following the link below, you are able to see the full list of cameras that are updated. Select the camera- and OS-related link and keep your device up to date.
