A few moments ago, Nikon rolled out the 2.2 firmware package developed for its UT-1 communication unit, which maintains compatibility with the D800, D800E, D810, and D7100 devices, and also adds support for the producer’s newly released D750 DSLR camera unit.

When it comes to the downloadable packages, Nikon has provided two files, one compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8 and above platforms, and the other targeted at Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, and 8.1 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit architectures).

Prior to downloading any file, connect the communication unit to one of the compatible cameras, go to Menu > Network > Options > Firmware Version, and check the currently installed firmware to ensure it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, in order to benefit from the UT-1’s features using the new D750 device model, save and run the appropriate file for your system OS, and copy the “_UT1_22_.bin” file from the newly created folder onto a formatted memory card.

Now make sure that both the camera and the UT-1 are turned off, connect the memory card, connect and then power on the two devices, go to Menu > Network > Options > Firmware Version > Update, and select “Yes” at the next dialog in order to initiate the update process.

Upon completion, check the currently installed firmware once more to ensure a successful upgrade, turn off the camera, remove the memory card, and you’re done.

With this in mind, download Nikon UT-1 Communication Unit Firmware 2.2 for the suitable OS, take into account all aforementioned steps, and apply the latest software version on your communication unit.
