Nippon optics manufacturer, Nikon is well known for their high-quality digital SLRs and lenses, which makes it one of the most important players on the market.

Recently, Japanese blog Egami discovered a new patent filed by Nikon on May 30, 2012 that includes three super telephoto lenses: 400mm f/2.8, 600mm f/4 and 800mm f/5.6.

What's interesting about this is that all the aforementioned lenses are already on the market, but Nikon might want to refresh them just in time for the Winter Olympics that will take place in Sochi, Russia from February 6 through February 23, 2014 or maybe for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

While the Nikon 400mm f/2.8 and 600mm f/4 were released back in 2007, the Nikon 800mm f/5.6 was announced at the beginning of this year along with the 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED and the AF-S Teleconverter TC800-1.25E ED.
