Nikon is about to reveal its latest camera tonight and everyone is wondering what it will pack under the hood and how this camera will perform compared with the professional D800 and D800E models.

The subject has come to media attention for a few days now, through a series of small video teasers that showcase just a few quick frames with the actual camera equipped with the new special edition Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens.

Nikon Rumors has recently received a leaked screenshot from an internal camera presentation that places the new Nikon Df right under the D800 and D800E pro-grade cameras and above the D610, on the border between the “Professional” and “Advanced” categories.

The camera, codenamed Q1020, is not placed directly on the pyramid, leaving room to speculation that this might be the first in a series of new cameras based on a retro design.

The price is another issue from the leaked graphic we can speculate on. Being placed between the D800 and D610, the new Nikon Df could hit shelves at a price somewhere between $1,996.95 / €1,478 and $2,796.95 / €2,070.
