Photokina 2014 is a major photographic event that’s scheduled to kick start next month, with all major players in the industry expected to make an appearance there, including Nikon, Canon or Olympus.

We have heard several rumors regarding Nikon. First, the company is said to be readying a medium format camera, but info backing up this claim isn't exactly too strong.

On the other hand, word on the street had it that Nikon will bring forth a new DSLR camera in Germany, and talk about this possible product has been intensifying in the last few weeks. This can be considered a good indication that this device is the real and will actually make it onto the market.

Even as we talked a lot about the new DSLR, we didn't have a name for it. But that's not the case anymore. Nikon Rumors reports a trust worthy source has tipped them that the camera will be called the D750. The probability of this information being true has been rated at 95%, which is quite high.

Furthermore, we get another confirmation that the D750 camera will boast a 24.3MP full frame sensor accompanied by an Expeed 4 image processor and will launch at Photokina 2014.

There are a few uncertainties related to the focusing system and whether the sensor will boast an AA filter or not, but this dilemma will probably be sold in the upcoming days.

We also know the display will be tiltable and the camera should take advantage of a very light complexion. The sources also mention the presence of Wi-Fi, but apart from that that there is no more information regarding the upcoming device.

Since it is expected that Nikon will market the camera for around $2,500 / €1,836 it means the D750 will sit somewhere above the D610 and below other “D” models.

You should also remember that the latest information claims Nikon would market the D750 as a sports camera. The newcomer could be some sort of “spiritual” successor of the uber popular D700, but we’ll just have to wait and see when the official announcement comes out.

Nikon has been releasing a bunch of full frame models lately, including the D610, Df and D810 and it's possible a fourth one will see the light of day soon enough.

Hopefully, the device will also come boasting the new and improved 51 point AF but there’s no indication of that at this point. Anyway, we will keep you updated on the developments.
