Now here’s something unexpected. It was widely anticipated that photo giant Nikon will unveil the D750 at Photokina 2014 in Germany next week.

But the company was apparently eager to let its latest DSLR fly free in the wild, so pulled the wraps off it a little before schedule.

Nikon launches the D750 ahead of schedule

Now, it’s time to say hello to the new D750 a new action shooter which the producing company claims it can offer FX-format image quality and pro-caliber video.

Just a few days ago we saw the majority of the camera’s specs leak into the wild, so we basically knew what we were headed for.

Now Nikon’s official statement comes to confirm what we already knew. The new D750 takes advantage of a 24.3-megapixel full frame sensor and is “incredibly compact and light” for a DSLR, that is.

The device might be a compact one, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come equipped with worthy features. Highlights of the new comer include a flip-out screen and double SD card slot.

As for the AF system, it is the same 51-point one (15 cross-type sensors, 11 of which function to up to f/8) Nikon uses for products from its high-end DSLR line.

Since this device will be marketed as an action camera, Nikon made sure it packed some action-worthy features to be used in scenarios where you have to shoot sports and wildlife. One of them is the Advanced Multi-Cam 3500-FX II AF focus system, which is in charge of tracking the quickest action.

The new DSLR brings along upgrades

Nikon has improved the mirror/shutter mechanism along other feats. The burst rate can handle 6.5 frames per second, while the ISO has a range of 11-12,800 (expandable to 50-51,200). The sensor works side by side with an EXPEED 4 image processor in order to cater to your requests.

Owners of the D750 will be able to record 1080p video at 60/30/24p with full manual control or live aperture adjustment.

Manual mode is advanced enough to permit the adjustment of shutter speed and ISO while in video mode. Last but not least, the camera takes advantage of Wi-Fi to make sharing easier.

When the D750 finally makes it on the market, it will come alongside a kit with an AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4 VR lens.

The camera will be launched in late September in body-only format, with a price tag of $2,229 / €1,724. The kit lens will follow in mid-October.
