Select Go to Dagobah Luke to format your memory card

When the Nikon D5100 firmware was decrypted last month, we all knew that great things are in store for owners of the entry-level DSLR, but few actually expected one of the first projects to arrive to be a Star Wars-themed firmware update.

Cool, for some, useless for others, the new firmware uncovered by Wired basically replaces some of the names of your menu headers into something more Star Wars-like.

For example, the Playback menu now becomes Holocron, while the Shooting menu will be tagged as Weapon System.

Other cool names are used all throughout the menu system, such as “Go to Dagobah Luke” for formatting the memory card or “Death Star Codes” for finding out the firmware version.

To apply the patch to your Nikon D5100 you can get it from here and then you can continue like with any official firmware update.

Want to go back? That’s simple enough. Copy the original .bin to SD card and go to Hyperdrive -> Death Star Codes -> Update -> Yes, and that’s about all.
