As we previously reported, Nippon camera and optics manufacturer Nikon is about to announce the successor of its D4 flagship camera in the coming months.

According to Digicameinfo, the company will announce the development of the new model this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Moreover, it seems that Nikon is planning to officially reveal D4's successor in February, most probably around CP+ 2014, which takes place in Tokyo starting February 13 through February 16.

In addition to that, the same source states that the new Nikon D4 model will start shipping early March. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if Nikon offers more info about its new flagship model this week during the CES show.

For the moment, it's known that the new D4s/D4x will have the same 16MP sensor, improved AF capabilities, higher fps rate, improved video capturing as well as a better low-light performance than its predecessor.
