CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2014 is about to open its doors to the public, and most of the major camera and optics manufacturers have already announced their lineups for the upcoming event.

Besides the fact that everyone is expecting this event to see the new camera models in action, there is still place for a few rumors about future digital cameras that will be announced after this week's international show.

According to NikonRumors, the Nippon manufacturer is planning to introduce a new entry-level DSLR series that will include smaller cameras similar with the current Canon Rebel SL1 / 100D. It seems that Nikon D2300 will be the first DSLR in this series and will come with a radically new design.

The D2300 will be the world's smallest DSLR camera and it's possible that it will also be the first digital single lens reflex model to come without an optical viewfinder. Moreover, the same source states that the D2300 will have a weight of only 290g and will be announced in May 2014.

Apart from that, there are also a few rumors that point to a new Nikon Coolpix P8000 digital camera. The new model will have a 35mm equivalent focal length 24-120mm f/2.0-3.0 lens and will feature 3 ED elements as well as 1 aspherical glass element in its construction.

The P8000 is also rumored to be the first Nikon Coolpix camera to pack a 1-inch sensor similar to the one used in the current Nikon mirrorless models, a 3-inch LCD screen, and P / A / S / M manual control modes.

For the moment, that's all the information available about these new Nikon digital cameras and, until further details emerge, take this with a grain of salt. In the meantime, we have to see what Nikon has prepared for CP+, including the full list of specs for the company's latest flagship DSLR, the D4s.
