They are compact photo and video cameras with flip-out LCD screens

It's one thing to use trial and error to make good self-shots, and another to actually have a screen to check your perspective.

Nikon has just introduced two cameras that allow owners to see what they're about to capture, even when pointing it at themselves.

The reason is the flip-out LCD screen. The Coolpix S6600 is actually the first in the S series that has one.

Coolpix S6600 is a 16-megapixel photo and video compact camera with 12x optical zoom and touch support, complete with gesture control and Full HD 1080i recording with stereo audio.

The other camera, Coolpix L620, is an 18.1-megapixel model with 14x optical zoom and 1080p recording, plus an Easy Auto mode, 6 special effects, 8 post-shot filter effects, etc.

Remote access via Wi-Fi-capable phone/tablet or other device is supported.

Sales of the Nikon cameras will start in September, for £200 / $250 / €250 (Coolpix L620) and more or less the same for Coolpix S6600.
