14 DAY TRIAL // Nikon has released today a new update for its Capture NX image editing software, bringing quite a few new features and a new camera profile.
Capture NX is one of the proprietary applications that Nikon is offering to its customers, providing enhanced image editing possibilities using a series of control points.
The new Capture NX version 2.4.6 adds support for the recently announced entry-level DSLR, the Nikon D3300, giving you the possibility to open and edit RAW images captured with this new camera model.
In addition to this new camera profile, Nikon Capture NX also comes with a few new improved tools, such as the Sharpening one found under Camera Settings > Picture Control in the Develop section of the Edit List palette. The latest update allows you to adjust this tool even if you selected Unchanged for RAW images Picture Control.
Among other features, White Balance has received lots of modifications and additions, offering extended support for a few new camera profiles. To achieve perfect colors, Capture NX now comes with an Auto 1 option that will automatically adjust white balance to match the Auto 1 (Normal) setting on your camera.
Unfortunately, this option is available only with RAW images captured with the following cameras: D7000 and later DSLRs, all interchangeable lens cameras as well as COOLPIX A and COOLPIX P7100 or later digital cameras that support NRW format recording.
Moreover, the new version also improves the Fine Adjustment range from 4132-7042k to 2500-7042k when using the Direct Sunlight option for Daylight. The Tint option hasn't been overlooked and now it's more precise than ever, allowing you to make fine adjustments in 0.01 steps.
