Nikon has just released a new firmware version targeted at two of its digital cameras, namely build 1.1 compatible with the COOLPIX AW110 and L820 devices, which improves the devices’ overall stability and usability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update resolves an issue regarding the movie video and sound timing anomaly that was encountered occasionally.

Besides this modification, the AW110 camera’s improper latitude and longitude information display with “Data Imprint,” as well as the issue where the unit would hang while shooting with GPS information, have also been fixed.

If you intend to install this release, get and run the appropriate downloadable record for your camera and computer OS and copy the .bin file from the newly created folder onto the root folder of a formatted memory card (must be initialized by the camera).

When done, insert the card into the COOLPIX unit, turn the device on, and go to “Firmware Version” from the camera’s setup menu. Now, follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful installation.

Bear in mind that during the upgrade you mustn’t use the camera’s buttons or interrupt the process in any way – this might result into a firmware update failure that can cause serious damage to the device.

After the installation has finished, simply turn off the device, remove the memory card, power the unit back on, and check the firmware version to ensure the process has been successful.

That being said, if you consider upgrading to this version, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your camera model, get the downloadable record compatible with your computer OS, and improve your Nikon device.
