The new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G lens has already been shipped to the Foto Hans Keuzekamp store in the Netherlands and is now available to order, according to Nikon Rumors.

For the US market, the new lens is expected to be shipped starting tomorrow, October 31, through select retail partners including Amazon and B&H stores.

The main advantage of this lens is the advanced optical design technologies used, as well as the fact that it's highly corrected for coma, which translates into sharp high resolution images even at the maximum aperture.

Featuring an enhanced capability to reproduce point light sources, a superior resolution and the absence of distortion or fringes, the new AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G lens is a must have for every professional photographer.

Although it's a lens designed for Nikon FX SLRs, that shouldn't stop any DX format SLR user from taking it for a spin. On a Nikon DX camera, it will behave like a classic 85mm portrait lens.

This said, I must add that this beauty comes at a hefty price tag of $1,699.95 / €1,749.00 / £1,599.99.
