Just now, Nikon has made available a new firmware package targeted at its 1 S2 interchangeable-lens camera, namely version C:1.01, which can be applied using a system that is running MAC or Windows platforms.

Specifically speaking, the new release consists of two downloadable files, one compatible with both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.1 operating systems, and one suitable for Mac OS X 10.6.8 platforms and above.

When it comes to changes, the C:1.01 release fixes an issue encountered with the previous firmware if the display brightness was set to a negative value. This setting didn’t allow users to see the actual screen because it would turn completely white.

As for installing this version, first review the currently installed firmware to make sure it isn’t either newer or matching the current release. To do so, simply go to Menu → Setup → Firmware Version, and the build number will be shown on the camera's 3-inch display.

If checked, get and run the appropriate package for your system, navigate to the “S2_0101.bin” file located within the newly-created “S2Update” folder, and copy it onto the root directory of a formatted SD memory card.

Now, insert the card into the Nikon 1 S2 unit, turn it on, go to the Firmware Version section once more, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete installation. Also, upon completion, it is highly recommended that you power off the device, and remove the memory card before using the camera.

That being said, download Nikon 1 S2 Camera Firmware C:1.01 for the proper operating system, apply the latest firmware version on your camera, and constantly check with our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
