This is not the Nikko you are looking for! After yesterday a scandal broke out when it was revealed that reality starlet Mimi Faust performed in a raunchy tape with singer Nikko Smith, the American Idol finalist is now saying that it's not him on the tape.

TMZ reports that the man who came in ninth in the American Idol reality show last season is distancing himself from the raunchy tape scandal by pointing out that he's not the Nikko Smith that appears in the video doing unspeakable things to Mimi Faust, a star in the reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”

You'd think that having your name in the press in association with a lewd scandal would be enough to make you bury your head in shame and lock yourself in your house for the next couple of years, but you'd be wrong.

Smith seems to be OK with the fact that he's got friends and family calling him up worried about the fact that he might very well lose his mind to star in an adult production. Nikko is sticking to the old adage that any publicity is good publicity.

Apparently, fans are tweeting him non-stop the fact that his name was trending on the micro-blogging platform isn't hurting him one bit. Also, Nikko is claiming that he doesn't mind the comparison simply because he says the guy in the video is very well endowed so he takes that as a compliment.

“There could be worse things linked to my name. At least the guy didn't murder someone,” Nikko told the press, after explaining that he's never dated or indeed even met Mimi Faust in real life, so there's no way that he could be linked to the scandal.

The man in the video named as Nikko Smith is actually a different Nikko, boyfriend to Mimi Faust, so you can understand how the confusion was created. The Nikko that went on American Idol, real name Osborne Earl Smith, is being a good sport about it and makes the most out of this situation of mistaken identity.

The Nikko people can see in the video, which is going to be released by Vivid sometime next month, has been going out with Mimi Faust for some time now and there has been talk that he's using her simply for her fame.

Faust addressed the issue by saying in an interview “I don’t think Nikko was using me. If you ask me everyone’s an opportunist. Everyone in this world is an opportunist and if you’re not, then something may be wrong. I don’t think he was using me. He was trying to get what he was trying do at the forefront, and I don’t blame him. I would of done the same thing if I was him.”

Well, if it's fame they wanted, it's fame they got, because the lewd tape is generating quite the buzz on social media and in the press. There was even a press release put out by Vivid CEO Steve Hirsh who said that “From the minute we heard about this tape, we wanted it. The authenticity of Mimi and Nikko’s relationship is obvious. There’s no mistaking their passion; it’s real.”

Yes, apparently, it's that big of a deal. Despite the fact that alarm bells are ringing that this is in fact a glorified publicity stunt, people still want to see the tape and get all the nasty details, because, let's face it, it's fun when celebrities do their dirty laundry in public and it doesn't get dirtier than a lewd tape.
