Atmospheric 2D platformer Nihilumbra will make its debut on the PlayStation Vita handheld at the end of January.

The game puts you in the shoes of an otherworldly entity named Born, created from a type of anti-matter known as The Void, which turns out to actually be the game's antagonist in the end.

The Void, a dark mass of nothingness, will relentlessly pursue Born throughout the game, seeking to destroy him and reabsorb him.

Born's unique ability is to make use of color in order to modify the environment. There are a total of five different colors to find and master throughout the game, enabling you to bend the laws of physics and manipulate the environment.

Different combinations of colors can help you solve difficult puzzles and even dispose of enemy minions, depending on how you apply them to the world canvas.

An interesting and novel idea

One of the game's main draws is the fact that there are usually multiple ways to solve puzzles, and experimentation is a big part of the whole experience.

You can paint pretty much everywhere you want and there is a unique creative element present while playing Nihilumbra.

The game was met with praise on iOS and PC, and now it's making its way to Sony's handheld gaming device, in a revised edition with updated controls that make use of the Vita's unique features.

You can make use of the touchscreen to paint the world and control Born with the cross-pad over 5 increasingly complex worlds, transforming the canvas at your will and exploring the many possible interactions afforded by your unique abilities.

The game will land on the PlayStation Store on January 27 in North America, going for $10, and on January 28 in Europe, going for €9, exclusively for the PlayStation Vita handheld.
