14 DAY TRIAL // A couple of days ago, Oscar buzz was starting to pick up around the crime thriller “Nightcrawler” with Jake Gyllenhaal playing a former crook who takes up a life as a crime journalist. That coincided with the release of a new viral video, showing us the first proper look at Jake in action.
Well, the new full trailer has arrived and it’s even better than the viral, even though it features no dialog, being set entirely against the speech we have already heard in the viral.
You will find it embedded in full below, and right underneath it, the viral video, in case you missed it at the time. It popped up on Craigslist, where it was posted on an account in the name of Gyllenhaal’s character and was meant to secure him a job.
The trailer offers a bit more details on the action but very few on the plot, though we do get a good look at Renee Russo playing Gyllenhaal’s boss. However, we get the distinct impression that he will find his dream job in television and do anything to hold on to it. Anything at all, including rearranging the crime scene to have it look better on camera.
Towards the end of the trailer, things get really out of control and we’re offered an excellent look at Gyllenhaal as he comes unhinged, for reasons that are yet to be revealed.
“Nightcrawler” is the movie for which Jake lost so much weight he became unrecognizable. It also stars Bill Paxton and will be out in October this year.
