The aircraft crashed upon taking off from Lagos airport

A plane went down in Nigeria yesterday, crashing in Lagos airport upon take off and killing at least 15 people. The crash was reported at 9.32 a.m., Airports Authority General Manager Yakubu Dati informed.

Only five passengers have survived the collision, Aviation Ministry spokesman Joe Obi describes. The Nigeria National Emergency Management Agency are now analyzing black box information.

"The plane couldn't lift properly so it just came down," Obi adds.

The small plane had under 30 people aboard and it was bound for the town of Akure, NBC News reports.

The aftermath of the horrific crash has been captured on video in the news report above. The plane involved in the accident is an Embraer, a small propeller aircraft.
