The latest edition of X Factor USA saw 13-year-old Rachel Crow getting the boot after judge Nicole Scherzinger sent the decision to deadlock. Drama ensued – and it also played out once the show was over, as the video below will confirm.

As we also informed you yesterday, judges had to send home either Rachel or Marcus Canty. When it came down to Nicole to cast her vote, she chose to send Rachel home because, this way, the decision would go to deadlock, with each contestant having two of the judges' votes.

Deadlock means the judges can't reach a valid outcome and their votes are thrown out the window. In a deadlock situation, it's the public who decides.

In this particular situation, Rachel didn't have more votes than Marcus, so she was sent home. Her and Nicole's reaction to the news was to burst into tears.

The crying continued backstage, at least on Nicole's part, as the video below will show.

“I couldn't make that decision on my own... I didn't send her home. I adore Rachel,” she says, trying to explain that she basically sent the decision to deadlock in the hope that Rachel had received more votes than Marcus.

Only when she saw Rachel's reaction to hearing her name called out, did Nicole realize what she'd done.

“When I saw Rachel's look on her face, I just died inside,” Nicole adds between tears.

At one point in the video, Rachel walks in on Nicole, trying to tell her not to cry anymore because she'll “be OK.”

And she's telling the truth, even if she probably didn't know it at the time. TMZ reports that Disney has already shown signs of interest in the young singer, and might sign her.

“Now that she has been eliminated off X-Factor, a general meeting is planned with her and Disney Channel executives soon,” a Disney source says for the e-zine.

“We're told Disney honchos want to go through a laundry list of possible opportunities for Rachel during the meeting – including TV, movies, and radio,” TMZ adds.

As they say, this is not the end for Rachel: it's only the beginning.

just another show with drama that hurts real people. this young lady will be better because this will show her how things can change in an instant, so don't get comfortable and always go after what you want like it was your last chance.
while the viewers were the deciding factor for ms. crow, i think five judges would not be a bad idea in the future. use a every day person who is not an entertainer with no axe to grind. bring that person in on judging day.
nicole needs to grow some because the shows requires an honest veiwpoint...not emotion and drama. if my guess is right, she just blew any chance her singer had at the finals because viewers do not forget and the judges seem to have the axes sharpened now.

Nicole inconsolable...blah...blah...blah. Yes america decide and if that was how they wanted the show set up they wouldn't have the panel of judges to prevent stupid public decisions. The panel is a counterbalance so good talent can stay ( or else Marcus would have been sent home a long time ago). Nichole is paid to do a job so DO IT. How can anyone in their right mind think Marcus is a better talent than Rachel...he's mediocre at best how he got this far is beyond me. Now because of Boo Woo I can't make a decision we lost a great part o the show

if you cant Judge, please leave the panel to someone who could. if XFactor to have a soul, it was rachel and now Xfactor is dead.

If it was an equal performance, then I would have agreed with Nicole. Though Marcus gave a good performance, he only seems to lay it out there with his save me songes, but this time...Rachael blew him away!!! I acutally believe that Nicole thought America voted for Rachael, but apparently America thought Rachael was safe and she didn't get the votes she needed, which is why we have judges...TO MAKE SURE SUPERSTARS DON'T SENT HOME!!!!!!

Nicole doesn't need to be consoled, her failure to be decisive and let the best person stay on the show which in this case was Rachel shows that she wasn't fit for the responsibility she'd been given as a judge on the show.In future if you can't judge save the whole lot of us some time and stay at home whining with boxes of kleenex whenever you can't make a crucial decision. What I don't appreciate is that she gambled with Rachel's chance to stay on X-factor and to make matters worse, she gambled with a talented girl's future.
