It's not looking good for reality talent show The X Factor. Just last week, Fox network announced that is was pulling the plug on the American version of the show, and that Simon Cowell was making his return to the British version.

Today, Nicole Scherzinger has just made the “heartbreaking” decision not to return as a judge on the next season of the British version, telling Simon Cowell that she wants to focus on her music career.

Nicole was one of the most popular judges on X Factor, which means that her departure is another big blow dealt to a show that's already going down in ratings and losing millions of viewers each season.

Daily Mail quotes an insider: “She put her music career on hold last year but now she has to focus on her music.” This means that Nicole is looking to put an end to her musical hiatus.

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has had nothing but good words for Nicole, saying that “She will always be part of the X Factor family.”

But as Nicole is planning her exit, the British music mogul is already planning his next controversial move, as he's reportedly offered former judge Cheryl Cole a chance to make a comeback on the show.

It's not known yet if Cole accepted the deal after she had been famously let off the show without much fanfare or given a reasonable explanation.
