Nicole Richie Finally Takes the Big Step?

Do I hear wedding bells?

Nicole Richie has probably decided that her life needs a little sugar and spice. And since at about the same time she was probably feeling a little emotional and needed some extra care and attention, she decided to...well, finally take the next logical step. I mean, she did all of the preparatory work - she got pregnant, (almost) went to jail, (quickly) got out, posed as a cute mom-to-be, sunbathed in Hawaii and showed us all her growing baby bump... It's pretty much all a pregnant gal can do without actually doing anything. And so, finally, Nicole decided she wants to hear wedding bells. About time too.

I have to admit, I was half-expecting this to happen, and I think that this time both Nicole and her boyfriend Joel Madden will go through with the marriage, even though they have considered and then rejected taking the big step a few times before. And the question was, at the end of the day what will a pregnant, really cute socialite choose: the big, big wedding after the baby was born, or the even cuter homely, nice small wedding before the baby comes? And it sounds like she finally made up her mind.

Don't get me wrong - I totally want to see Nicole wearing a wedding dress. But I still have to make up my mind on whether this is just a media stunt aimed at keeping her in the news, or there's some reasoning behind the media cravings, too. I was wondering just the other day - has Nicole finally took a step towards changing her life and turning from a nasty socialite into a sweet socialite? Has she finally stopped the crazy lifestyle and learned her lesson? Or will she pull a Britney on us in a couple of years' time? Hope not.

Anyway, the (small?) wedding is said to take place on October 13th in Laguna Beach, California - and it looks like Nicole & Co. hired a wedding planner called the Wedding Fairy to take charge of the whole complicated business. I take it those rumors about using daddy Lionel's house and having him entertain the guests were not true after all - but this is Nicole Richie, folks, you can never know. Looking forward to some cute pictures though - we all know Nicole likes to pose, and there's no better place to do that than at your own wedding.
