14 DAY TRIAL // Sad news for the family of Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, Australian press is reporting today that her father, doctor Anthony Kidman, has passed away on Friday following an accident in his hotel room in Singapore.
Australian Woman's Weekly says that Anthony was visiting his daughter, Antonia, and her children in Singapore and that he fell inside the hotel room he was staying in. The fall proved fatal for the doctor. Antonia is Nicole's younger sister, and she lives in Singapore with her husband, Craig Marran, and their six children.
The doctor was away on visit, alone in his hotel room
Anthony was alone at the time of his death, as his wife, Janelle, is reported to have been in Sydney at the time of his death. Nicole Kidman was also away, in Nashville, Tennessee, where she currently resides with her two children and her husband, country singer Keith Urban.
Doctor Anthony Kidman was a psychologist and director of the Health Psychology Unit at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital. Though not nearly as famous as his actress daughter, Anthony was still a renowned specialist in his field. In 2005 he was awarded an Order of Australia medal for his contributions to clinical psychology.
He leaves behind an impressive career and resume
A regular speaker on TV and radio, the doctor also contributed to several local publications and was famous for his ability to voice frustrations of modern life.
At the moment, the exact circumstances of his death are not clear. In the following days there will probably be an investigation into the matter, and more details about this strange death are going to be presented.
The news is barely making rounds in the media so no one from the Kidman family has made an official statement yet. Nicole is expected to fly home to native Australia for the upcoming funeral, as is the rest of her family.

Back in 2009 Nicole had this to say about her father, “Dad's a psychiatrist and when I was younger he was always trying to give me advice that I wouldn't listen to. When my marriage to Tom Cruise fell apart, I really needed to reach out to my dad, and he was wonderful. He stood by me, comforted me; showed me, at a time when I really needed to see it, the way that a man can be strong, dignified and loving.”
She went on to paint a loving portrait of her father, “I'm very grateful that I had such a good father to see me through that time because it put me in good stead for trusting again the next time I fell in love. My father... is a very good and decent man.”
The same image is being painted by those he worked with or anyone he came into contact with, everyone stating that he was a professional and a man who cared about others.
