I must say (just for the record) that I really hope Nicole Kidman is knocked up. I'd be really, really happy for her. I mean, I know how we've all referred to her as "the ice princess" at some point and said that while she's an incredibly talented actress, something about her just... doesn't seem to click.

I don't know if it's the fact that she was once married to that certified loon Tom Cruise, the fact that all her recent movies have ended up being big-time box office flops or the fact that she has the air of an overall coldness (her botoxed-to-perfection face didn't help on the last count, either). But the fact remains, Nicole has not been getting good press lately, despite being a constant presence on the big screen and trying her best to get our hearts a little warmer. In any case, one more thing has now been added to the list of things that prove Nicole might be pregnant.

The actress has reportedly quit her upcoming movie, "The Reader", because she's reportedly pregnant. "[She] is so concerned about the welfare of her unborn child that she's taking a break from her film career and has dropped out of the film. Of course, everyone knows she's pregnant and lying about it" a source reports. Now, this may be or may not be true - my guess is that it probably is and that Nicole is taking the Jennifer Lopez route, shrouding herself in mystery and letting her growing baby bump do the talking for her. Although, truth be told, Nicole is so thin that we will probably be able to tell she's pregnant much sooner than was the case with Jennifer Lopez.

There is a different hypothesis worth being taken into account, though: Nicole's upcoming project "The Reader" is a war drama set in Nazi Germany, listed with a release date of December 12, 2008. Sounds familiar? Well, Nicole's ex hubby Tom Cruise has been (very publicly) working on a similar project, the much-hyped "Valkyrie" movie about the German plot to assassinate Hitler towards the end of World War 2.

The release date for "Valkyrie" is October 3rd, so you see, there's always a good chance Nicole simply wanted to put some distance between Tom and herself - and her quitting the movie could have other reasons then. Which, given the latest news from the Scientology front, may be a good idea. Of course, it's also possible that Nicole who suffered miscarriages in the past, is simply taking the safe route and not making any announcements before making sure she and the baby are safe.
