The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization has been getting more and more support from public figures and celebrities recently. Not long ago, 'Playboy' Playmate Pamela Anderson (a very fervent believer in the cause) took part in the campaign 'Rather Bear Skin than Wear Skin', bearing it all in the window of a store in a cry to people to stop wearing animal fur and skin.
Besides Pammy, many are those who voice PETA's main concerns, but Nicole Richie and the Olsen twins are not among them. Consequently, the three petite stars, along with dozens more, made the cut into this year's worst dressed celebrities chart done by the leading representatives of the organization.
For 2006, Nicole has been singled out as the worst dressed star, for wearing fur and animal skin in public. Last year, the 'honor' went to her best friend/co-star Paris Hilton, but now she slipped down a couple of positions for publicly acknowledging that she has given up all her mink coats, fox collars and chinchilla trims.
Ashley Olsen (one of the Olsen twins), Christina Ricci and Eva Longoria were next in the top, being openly criticized for their lack of support and understanding of the PETA cause. But it was Nicole Richie the one who got the full 'package', so to speak, in terms of being trashed.
'This pelt-wearing party girl is all animal skin and bones. She's an incredible shrinking woman, with the heart to match', a spokesperson for the organization said, making a direct reference to the socialite's weight problem.
The good news is that PETA is now considering hiring Paris Hilton as their next model in the 'Rather Bear Skin than Wear Skin'. But she still has to undergo the test of time, meaning, the leaders of the group still have to see if she keeps her word on giving up all animal fur and skin.
