The wait is over: after lots of teasing on social media and on TV, Nicki Minaj has finally unveiled the official full video for her brand new single “Pills N Potions.” It is a surreal, very beautiful, and occasionally funny release, which you will also find embedded below in full.

Even though the video is mild by Nicki’s standards, *please note that discretion is recommended when viewing it, because it contains images that could offend.

Rapper The Game, one of Nicki’s good friends, also makes an appearance in it, playing her love interest but, surprisingly, he doesn’t rap on the song. I spent the entire video waiting for him to do something, I will admit. This is a highly unusual move but, then again, what is Nicki’s style if not unusual?

Speaking of the style, the video is simple and surrealist at the same time, situated on that fine line between beautiful and the ridiculous. Beautiful images of Nicki are interspersed with computer-generated imagery, with the aim of rendering the idea of heartbreak from love.

Diane Martel served as director and, if the name doesn’t ring a bell, I should probably add that she also directed Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” and Robin Thicke’s even more controversial “Blurred Lines.”

“Pills N Potions” is the leading single on Nicki’s upcoming album, “The Pink Print.”
