The resemblance is and has always been there, so it was nigh time Mattel came up with a Nicki Minaj Barbie doll. The doll, of which just one item will be made, will go up on sale during an auction this week.

Mattel has announced Nicki Minaj fans all over the world (with plenty of money to spare, of course) to get ready for the auction of their life: for a lookalike Barbie doll, BET informs.

The doll will be an exact replica of the Nicki from the artwork for the “Pink Friday” album: same tulle dress, same pink platform boots and same long pink hair and bangs.

It will go on sale on Wednesday.

“The auction will take place through Charity Buzz on Wednesday as part of the five-day Divine Design event and gala in Los Angeles,” BET Informs.

“Bidding will go through Dec. 19 and start at $1,000 [€743,9] with proceeds going towards Project Angel Food, which gives meals for people affected by HIV/AIDS,” the same music-oriented e-zine reports.

BET also caught up recently with Nicki herself, who claimed she never expected to be honored this way and have Mattel design a Barbie after her.

“It's just a one of a kind, limited edition for charity, and so I never thought Mattel would even pay attention to me,” she said.

However, she was grateful for it. At the same time, she chose to see such a special occasion as validation for her success and motivation to work for more.

“For me this is a very major moment, because it just shows that you can come from nothing and still be a force in the main world, a business woman, and hopefully a mogul one day,” she said.

Barbie spokeswoman Stefani Yocky said in a statement that, just as Barbie was a part of pop culture, so was Nicki. It seemed only natural to merge the two together.
