14 DAY TRIAL // Nicki Minaj has finally released the official music video for her brand new single “Anaconda.” Send the kids up to bed and / or your parents out of the room, because this one is racier than you could have imagined.
A couple of weeks ago, the rapper teased a snippet of the video on her Instagram (which I will embed below, but it still pretty racy in itself, so *proceed with caution), which offered clear clues that the full video would be a huge butt-fest, if you will excuse my pun.
Well, the video has dropped and it’s basically a dedication to “phat” backsides, as Nicki shows off hers and raps about hating on skinny women. There’s twerking in tight jean cutouts with ridiculous pink fanny packs, there’s twerking in the jungle, there’s twerking in a kind of pool of some sorts, there’s twerking at the gym, there’s twerking all over Drake.
Yes, for some reason, Drake too makes an appearance. Fans initially thought that the surprise cameo, the man sitting on a chair in an otherwise empty room, on whom Nicki would twerk, would be her longtime collaborator and pal Lil Wayne. It turns out that the fans were wrong.
The video for “Anaconda” has been online only for some hours but it’s already getting people talking on a variety of topics, from how degrading to women it is to how it’s illustrative of the decay of current pop music. Of course, there are also those who believe it’s too hot to over-analyze it.
