After Enrique Iglesias bailed on Britney Spears and her summer tour minutes after she made the announcement on Good Morning America, fans were left wondering who she will choose as an opening act. The answer is Nicki Minaj.

As we also informed you at the time, after Spears announced the summer tour with Enrique at the end of her 3-song GMA performance, he issued a statement to say that no, he would not be touring with the pop star.

Polls were immediately set up for fans to speak their mind and say who they believed was the most suitable opening act for Britney – and they mostly agreed that Nicki would be the ideal choice.

Said and done, TMZ confirms: though the official announcement is still to be made, Nicki and Britney have signed on the dotted line, and will be leaving together on tour this summer.

“It’s official. TMZ has learned... Nicki Minaj will be Britney Spears’ opening act for her upcoming concert tour,” the e-zine says.

It’s not 100 percent official just yet, though, since Britney and her record label haven’t announced it publicly: they are expected to do so today.

“Sources involved in the negotiation tell TMZ... the deal was signed several days ago, and Britney is elated,” TMZ further says.

In the end, the fact that Iglesias bailed on the tour, admittedly because his ego couldn’t handle being called an opening act for Britney, turned out for the best.

“Everyone involved in the concert is relieved Enrique Iglesias’ ego couldn’t handle opening for Britney and feel Nicki will be infinitely better,” TMZ says.

“Everyone connected with the concert series thinks Nicki will create even more heat for the tour, which kicks off on June 17 in Sacramento, CA,” the e-zine adds.

Word online has it that Nicki won’t be the only one who will join Britney on tour: Pauly D from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” may also open for her at least on a few nights, since he was well received by her fans when he did so in Vegas.
