So that’s that for Nickelodeon’s hit series “Sam & Cat.” Production on the series was halted in April without much of an explanation, right after a series of compromising photos with one of its two leading ladies, Jennette McCurdy, leaked online.

In the coming weeks, reports started to emerge that McCurdy was also holding back the production by asking for more money for new episodes, because she believed she deserved to be paid the same amount of money as Ariana Grande.

All this time, Ariana’s solo pop career was taking off and she was becoming one of the most promising young singers of the day.

Any or all these 3 situations together (or any possible combination) could be responsible for what happened next: Nickelodeon pulled the plug on the show, TV Line reports.

“Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best,” the network says in a statement to the trade publication.

Of course, no one’s saying anything right now about the real reason behind the cancelation, but expect all the dirty details to end up online in a matter of days, one way or another. Just last month, Jennette was apparently blasting Ariana on social media by calling her a “fake friend” whom she’d chosen to have removed from her life.

My guess is that she’ll be the first to break the silence on the cancelation.
