Nick and Jessica, Officially Over

Court papers issued on Friday declare that the two stars are again 'restored to the status of single, unmarried persons'. This is actually the full stop to a marriage that lasted only three happy years and whose reasons for divorce nobody seems to know exactly.

Last November, the stars from the TV reality show 'Newlyweds' announced that, after serious thought and consideration, they have decided to part ways, nicely asking to be left alone by the press and to have their privacy respected. No reasons were given for their splitting.

Later on, Nick Lachey claimed in an interview that he learned about the divorce from his wife and that he was never given any clues as to that being a possibility. He now admits that he might never get over Jessica but, also, that he respects her decision. At the present time, he is linked to MTV star Vanessa Minnillo, while his now ex-wife to actor/rocker Jared Leto.

Press releases say that the two agreed to go for a 'bifurcated' divorce, meaning that all financial settlements are done by the involved parties and not by the appointed judge. The money issue was raised before, a couple of months ago; when Nick was quoted to have said that he expects to be paid a spousal alimony from his much richer wife.
