14 DAY TRIAL // They were married in a super secret ceremony in July 2011 and now they're getting ready to become parents. Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are expecting their first child, as the proud papa to be confirms to People magazine.
Word of the happy news got out first in Us Weekly, with unnamed sources saying the two weren't yet ready to go public with it.
However, the spies did say that Nick and Vanessa were literally over the moon with happiness.
“She’s just 12 weeks. They’re both thrilled so excited. Can’t wait to meet the new little one,” one such insider was quoted as saying.
Before the rumor mill goes into overdrive, Nick himself is confirming it for People: yes, they're about to become parents.
In early January, Vanessa co-hosted Live! With Kelly with Kelly Rippa. After the show “she started to feel a little different, not herself,” the former boy-bander says.
Shortly afterwards, she found out that she was pregnant.
“So she went to the store, got a pregnancy test, and it came back positive. So we are having a baby!” he gushes.
“I've had a chance to do a lot of great things in my career and my life but this is the one thing that, more than any other, I look forward to. The fact that it's actually here, it's overwhelming,” Nick explains.
He also says that he plans to convince Vanessa to find out whether they're having a boy or a girl, just in case she thinks they should wait until the baby is born.
If you ask him, having to wait until birth to find out is “like watching a sports game on TiVo,” Nick jokes.
As fans must know, Nick's ex-wife, Jessica Simpson is also expecting her own bundle of joy.
Engaged to be married to Eric Johnson, the pop singer and businesswoman is due this spring.
