Fans were broken-hearted when the Jonas Brothers disbanded because they all wanted to pursue a solo career, but supporters of Nick Jonas must be thanking the powers that be right now that it happened. Because the young singer and actor just recreated Marky Mark’s infamous CK ad campaign in the latest issue of Flaunt magazine.

If you know of this campaign, you know we can’t show photos from it here. So we can’t show Nick’s photos either, except for the cover, which you can find attached to this article.

The idea is that Nick is no longer Disney: he’s now his own man, doing his own stuff and wanting you to pay attention to his insanely ripped body and… uhm, Calvin Klein boxers.

A change in look, but not necessarily a forced one

The difference between the Nick Jonas from this spread and the Nick Jonas of a few years ago is an absolutely striking one, and not just because he’s nearly nude and ripped now. The very fact that he’s willing to pose like this is what makes this spread stand out.

Speaking of, Nick was photographed by Yu Tsai and styled by Joseph Episcopo, in case you were wondering.

For instance, in one shot, which replicates Marky Mark’s CK ad point for point, he’s shown in his CK underwear, with a cap on his head and his jeans around his ankles, smirking at the camera as he’s grabbing himself.

Another photo shows him from the back, as if he’s walking away from the viewer. His jeans must be undone because they’re slipping and they’re very close to revealing his entire derriere to the camera. “Cheeky” is a term that would best apply to this particular photo.

The entire spread is composed of such sexually charged shots, brimming with fierceness, the kind Nick has never shown before. He’s definitely got a brand new attitude to go with his new body, but believe it or not, the change doesn’t feel forced.

Other stars have also tried to shake off their Disney image by suddenly going too mature (Miley Cyrus’ example is the first that comes to mind), but they didn’t do it as effortlessly as Nick.

A new body to go with a new career

Nick Jonas isn’t just showing off his ripped body for the sake of showing off, though few would probably find reason to complain in that. He’s actually promoting new projects: a new album, called “Nick Jonas,” and a starring role in the new DirecTV series “Kingdom.”

The online Flaunt brings a review of the album together with the spread (*warning, hotness ahead), in case you want to find out more about it.

As for the TV role, Nick actually plays an MMA fighter on it, with Frank Grillo playing his dad and manager. The extra muscle mass was for the role, but Nick started getting ridiculously fit when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and he overhauled his diet and started working out more.
