Hulk Hogan's son apparently has a history of loving speed. No, I don't just mean the press statements and the teen strutting about him wishing to become a race pilot. And I know it sounds a bit lame in the light of everything that happened over the weekend, but his passion for going dangerously fast was not all hearsay - he has, in fact, at least three tickets issued to him over the past year. Oh, and did I also mention that he has only had his diver's license for one year? I mean, this is not speculation - there is actual proof that he liked taking chances with his driving. In one of the past cases, the officer clocked Nick going 115mph in a 70 zone, and as a result he ended up back in traffic school. What I wonder is, with such a history of recklessness, how come he was allowed behind the wheel again?
In fact, I think the first question should be 'How come he's still alive?' Well, thank God for that - but I still get the chills when I look at the wreckage of his car. He was incredibly lucky to have gotten away with just a few scratches - but I bet you his life has suddenly become incredibly complicated. Why? Well - first of all - his friend, John Graziano, who was in the car with him when the yellow Toyota Supra crashed headlong into a palm tree in Clearwater, Florida, is still in the hospital in critical condition. Secondly, because the police confirmed that the accident happened because of excessive speed, and even though no charges have been filed yet, it's pretty obvious who is going to take the blame for the crash. And while I believe taking away Nick's license and keeping him off the streets for a good long time is the best thing that can happen to him, I also hope his friend doesn't die - because then things will really get nasty.
Apparently, Nick's dad and the rest of his family have realized (a bit too late) that handing Nick his car keys back was probably not the smartest move ever - and have hired a top Clearwater attorney to defend their son. Meanwhile, Nick - who was released from hospital yesterday - has posted some thoughts on his MySpace page. "I want to thank everyone who has sent their support to me. Right now I would like to ask all of you to focus your prayers on my friend John", he writes. Yes, we all hope his friend, who served in Iraq and came home last year, will make it. And let's hope Nick has time to draw some major conclusions from his close brush with death - I guess never driving again would not be such a bad thing to do, now that I think about it.
