“We are forever a family rooted in love”

Producer Mally Mall made all hell break loose online last week, when he told the paparazzi at LAX that one of his upcoming, 2015 projects was a new album from Nick Cannon, which, apparently would also include songs dissing his soon-to-be-ex-wife Mariah Carey.

“Controversial” is how the producer described it, promising fans a record that would shed some light into one of the most shocking breakups of 2014.

As it turns out, you should probably not hold your breath for it, because not only does Nick have zero plans of dissing Mariah – but he’s not even working on a new album slated for a 2015 release.

“Respect the process”

A few hours ago, Nick Cannon took to his Twitter feed to address the report that he was writing an album that would “document” his divorce from Mariah. One of the tweets he initially posted, to Vibe magazine, is no longer online, but it reprimanded the publication for reporting “false silliness” because “there is no album or songs!”

To Vibe’s credit, since the “false silliness” came from the producer himself, they weren’t at fault for reporting on it. This probably explains why Nick deleted the post.

He left the others though, in which he carefully explained that he had not and never would write or say something negative about Mariah because they were “forever a family rooted in love.” Nick and Mariah have 3-year-old twins Morocco and Monroe together, so he’s going out of his way to make the divorce as amicable as possible for his sake.

“I have no problem being painted as the bad guy. I got tough skin. Keep going! I just pray we ALL can move forward in the new year,” Nick added.

Embedded right after Nick’s tweets is the Mally Mall video that started it all.

6-year marriage is over

One of the most surprising and unexpected celebrity announcements of the year was the one that Nick and Mariah had decided to end their 6-year marriage. They had been plagued by split rumors for some time, but in showbiz, that’s to be expected, and most of the time, these reports amount to nothing in real life.

They turned out to be the exception. Nick confirmed the news and said that he and the diva had separated some months before and were talking to come up to an agreement favorable to both, but especially to their children. Until they reach said agreement, neither will be filing the divorce papers.

Rumor has it that talks have arrived at a dead-end because the two didn’t sign a prenup when they married and Mariah is in danger of seeing her impressive fortune, estimated at $500 million (€411.1 million), decimated. Admittedly, she and Nick are also having issues seeing eye to eye on the division of real estate and custody arrangements.

One thing Mariah can breathe easy on: she has Nick’s word that he would never trash her publicly, whether in songs or otherwise.
