14 DAY TRIAL // When Amber Rose filed the divorce papers from her husband of one year Wiz Khalifa, one particular rumor linked her romantically to Nick Cannon, who, as it happens, is also getting a divorce from his musical significant other, diva Mariah Carey. It was later revealed that there was a connection between the two, but it wasn’t in the least romantic.
Nick is Amber’s new manager and he tells Us Weekly he’s very “excited” about helping this accomplished and very talented young woman launch her career.
Amber, we should note, is known now solely as a former video vixen turned glamour model / fashionista. She’s flirted with music before, but it really didn’t get her anywhere. That’s about to change.
Amber Rose is coming out with a book and more
The curvalicious Amber, who also famously dated Kanye West at one point and made headlines when their split turned very bitter and they began bad-mouthing each other in the press, will soon add another notch on her entertainer belt: author.
Nick tells the glossy that they have signed a deal for a book, and while he can’t offer more details on what it will be about, he promises it will have been worth the while.
“We're super excited about her brand,” he gushes. “I feel like she's one of those people who are truly an icon when it comes to fashion, style, and even just someone in pop culture. I want to help her develop a lot of things and the first thing we are starting with is a book. We just did a huge book deal that we are really excited about.”
He describes her as “ready and willing as a businesswoman” and “super intelligent,” explaining that what drew him to her was her originality and creativity.
“We kind of came up with a lot of the concepts together, but it's going to be something where I think it's going to shock a lot of people. I think it's going to be really good for her brand and launch. My plan is to [begin with] the book then television, and so many other things. You'll see, it will be out soon!” he continues.
That part about “shocking a lot of people” is perhaps the most interesting, even if it reveals nothing about Nick and Amber’s plans.
So… are they a couple?
Nick carefully avoids the topic of the rumored romance by gushing about Amber’s accomplishments as an entertainer, accomplishments that, for now, only he knows of.
Chances of them being a couple are 50-50 right now, considering that they’re both single and working long hours together, which tends to bring people closer. If they’re a couple, they will probably refrain from going public until later on, saving the big reveal for after Amber’s first release, which we understand will be her book.
Of course, there are also those who see in the dating rumor too big of a coincidence: how convenient it is for Amber’s career that the rumor she’s dating Nick Cannon (or Mr. Mariah Carey himself, as he’s been dubbed by malicious celebrity pundits) came out right before they announced their new business partnership and right before she launched a new career?
The answer to that is simple: very convenient.
