For myth debunkers, the name Nibiru might conjure up images of a pseudoscientific planetary object, which supposedly houses a race of extraterrestrials.

But the name also describes a Chinese smartphone manufacturer trying to make it out there. Well, the company has recently released a tablet, the Jupiter One M1, which comes with some capable specs, at least on paper (as seen at My Drivers).

The device arrives with a 7-inch LCD with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution (full HD), while power comes from a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz.

Leave it to Mali 450 GPU to take care of things in the graphics department, while working in concert with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card) at the same time.

The slate has a capable 13MP main shooter and 2MP sensor on the back. A 3,500 mAh battery is keeping everything alive on the device, and it should provide you with a decent amount of hours of runtime.

As for the OS, Nibiru has its own Touch OS 2.0 running things on board. This is the newest variation of the operating system, which brings to the table a multitasking interface and “Quick Flip” feature.

The Jupiter One M1 is already up for pre-order today for $209 / €159 a pop and the first units will start shipping out to customers starting September 8. But we still don’t know whether the galactic slate is offered only in China or will make it out on the international market too.
