Nexus S, the first mobile phone in the world to come to the market with Google's new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, is expected to arrive on shelves in India via Infibeam in the near future.

The new handset, manufactured by Samsung in tight collaboration with Google, should offer users in India the possibility to enjoy some of the latest advancements in the communication filed, while sporting a lower price tag than some might have expected.

Infibeam, a popular online retailer, is reportedly set to soon bring the powerful Nexus S smartphone to the market India.

According to a recent article on techknots (via fonearena), Infibeam would have the mobile phone available for purchase for only Rs.24,000 (approx. $530), much lower than the Rs.32,999 price tag the new mobile phone was spotted with on eBay.

The expected release date for Nexus S in India was reportedly set for mid to late January, but no official confirmation on the matter emerged for the time being.

In case there are some of you who might have not encountered the device before, we should note that is said to be the most advanced Android-based handset on the market today.

It packs a 1 GHz application processor inside, complemented by a 4 inch Super AMOLED display, which was curved so as to fit both the hand and the user's face.

The specifications list of this mobile phone also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with Auto Focus and HD (720p) video recording capabilities, as well as 16 GB of internal memory, and 512MB of RAM.

The smartphone also comes with NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities, Wi-Fi connectivity options, 3.5 mm audio jack, a 1500 mAh battery, and a wide range of other features and functionalities.

As stated above, no official word on the release of Nexus S on the market in India emerged for the time being, but it might not be too long before Google makes the move, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
