Nexus S, the next flagship smartphone South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung should bring to the market in the near future, has a series of interesting surprises for us, it seems, including a unique curved display.

While no specific info on this emerged from its maker, the discussion around the handset's display is already intense, especially since the phone is none other than the successor of Nexus One.

For those who might be out of the loop, we should note that the Nexus S is expected to arrive on the market sometime next year with Google's Android Gingerbread operating system on board, being the first such handset on shelves.

Rumors on the handset emerged ever since several weeks ago, and they all got a confirmation during the Web 2.0 summit this week, as Google's CEO Eric Schmidt brought the smartphone to the spotlight.

The video embedded at the bottom of this article includes some moments with the device, while also offering additional details on the upcoming mobile OS version, so take a look at it to learn more.

According to the guys over at Engadget, the Nexus S was spotted at the summit with a concave front, something rather unusual for a touch-enabled smartphone.

It appears that Samsung has high hopes for the solution, which is said to improve usability when compared to the flat displays.

It appears that other smartphones from the company would also include the technology, and that Sprint might soon launch such devices on its airwaves.

However, the Nexus S is expected to be the first mobile phone to pack the solution, as the mobile phone maker was not yet able to ramp up production to pack the display in more handsets.

In the meantime, we should look forward for the official announcement on the Nexus S' launch on the market, something that might happen in the next few weeks, just as Google's CEO promised.
