Nexus S, the second Google phone on the market, is expected to become available for purchase on the market in Canada in the next few weeks, and should hit all wireless carriers in the country, Samsung, the maker of this device, confirmed.

The Nexus S by Samsung was announced as being on its way to the Canadian market a while ago, but specific info on its availability did not emerge that that time.

Today however, we learn that Samsung confirmed plans to being it to shelves before March is over, and to have it available for acquisition via all wireless services providers in the country.

According to the company, this would certainly prove great for the popularity of the phone, since users would be able to enjoy its features with services from the carrier of their choice.

“It’s imperative — and I think Google has taken the right approach — to get this device out into the marketplace at as many points of distribution as possible,” said Paul Brannen, vice president of wireless communications for Samsung Electronics Canada, Financial Post reports.

The Nexus S was unveiled to the world in late 2010 with the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system flavor on board.

The phone comes with a nice range of appealing specs and features, including a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, which sports a unique curved design.

Moreover, the smartphone includes a fast 1GHz application processor complemented by 16GB of internal storage, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity options were included into the mix as well, along with gyro sensor and NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities.

Nexus S received a few weeks ago an update to the Android 2.3.3 version of the operating system, and chances are that it would be pushed to the Canadian market with this software on board too.

Unfortunately, specific info on when exactly would this device be put on sale in Canada, or at which price tag, lack at the moment.
