Even though Samsung has already announced the 4G support-packing Nexus S “sequel”, the original version of the smartphone is about to make its debut in India, next month.

Pre-orders for Nexus S are up now from Indian online retailer Flipkart, which is offering the device for Rs. 27,999 (about $625).

Although the device seems overpriced, the retailer has made a small price cut from the initial Rs. 30,400 (about $678) sum.

Samsung has announced at the end of last year that it will bring the Nexus S to more countries through Vodafone. However, Vodafone India is yet to make any announcements regarding the availability of the device.

It appears that Samsung decided to drop the higher quality Super AMOLED display, as Flipkart will ship the Nexus S with an inferior Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

The Nexus S is powered by a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU (graphical processing unit) and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Even though it has 16GB of internal memory and 512 MB RAM, the Nexus S lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Other interesting features include HSDPA, DLNA function, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, and social networking integration through Social Hubs.

It also packs a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and flash focus, as well as secondary VGA front-facing camera for video-calls.

The handset features a powerful Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery which is rated for up to 713 hours (428 hours for 3G) of standby time or 14 hours (6 hours 40 minutes for 3G) of talk time.

According to the retailer, the phone should be available in the first week of April, but a certain release date has not been mentioned. Customers who purchase the Nexus S also receive 1-year of warranty for the phone and 6 months warranty for any of the accessories.
