Fortunately for European customers, Google's Nexus S Android smartphone will not be exclusively retailed by Vodafone UK

Even though the carrier confirmed that it would have the device available in the following weeks and exclusivity over the White version of the phone, it seems that more carriers are preparing to release the Nexus S soon.

A visit to Google's official Nexus S webpage unveils more information about several possible destinations of the smartphone.

Even though no release dates are specified, customers will be able to buy the device in the coming weeks from:

Germany: Vodafone or the Phone House; Switzerland: Swisscom from CHF49; Austria: A1; Czech Republic: Vodafone; France: SFR; Russia: no information about carrier yet, but the device will be available from mid-March and it will be priced at 27,990 rubles.

Furthermore, it seems that at least one more European carrier, SFR will also be retailing the White Nexus S, along with Vodafone Australia.

As a reminder, Nexus S is the first smartphone launched on the market with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and 512 MB RAM. It comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

The Nexus S lacks Gorilla Glass protection display, instead featuring an oleophobic surface, contour display with curved glass screen, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and three-axis gyro sensor.

Other highlights of the smartphone include a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, video recording capabilities (WVGA@30fps), as well as secondary VGA camera, 16GB of internal memory, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, NFC (Near Field Communications) technology and GPS with A-GPS support.

The standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 713 hours (428 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 14 hours (6 hours and 40 minutes for 3G) of talk time.
