Wireless carrier Sprint has a treat for its users these days, with the Nexus S 4G smartphone available for them for free.

The smartphone will keep the $0 price tag until February 8th, and those who would like to give it a try should access the wireless carrier’s website to learn more on the matter.

Nexus S 4G from Google, the CDMA flavor of the second Google phone out there, arrived at Sprint last year. The handset features a price tag of $549.99 if purchased contract free.

Those who would like to acquire it signing a contract agreement with the wireless carrier, however, will get it for free today and tomorrow.

Nexus S 4G packs a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED screen capable of delivering a 480x800 pixels resolution, along with Samsung’s 1GHz Cortex A8 (Hummingbird) application processor, and 16GB of flash memory.

The specs list of the Nexus S also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with HD video recording capabilities, as well as with a 1500 mAH Lithum Ion battery inside.

The smartphone was made available at Sprint with support for the operator’s WiMAX network, that is why “4G” was added to its name.

Nexus S 4G is powered by Android 2.3 and will taste Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich soon. It is considered a developer device, thus offering specific features to its users.

“Why it rocks: Built-in Google apps, integrated Google Voice service, 4G speed and a superfast processor. On the outside, the Nexus S features a thin-profile contour display giving it a unique size and shape that nestles perfectly in the palm of your hand,” Sprint notes on its website.

“Who will love it: Android-powered players who want the latest Google Apps and OS updates as soon as humanly possible.

“Work smarter: Take your office with you wherever you go. The Nexus S offers full web browsing, internet calling and true multi-tasking through its mobile hotspot capability allowing you to share your network on the go.”
