Mountain View-based company Google has quietly made available starting with Thursday a new accessory for the first Android-based mobile phone that is being sold via its own web store, namely a Nexus One Desktop Dock. The new device comes around priced at only $45, offering users a nice range of new features to enjoy with their Nexus One by HTC phone.

Here's how Google describes the accessory: The Nexus One Desktop Dock is an elegant place to charge your phone, on your desk or nightstand. Just drop your phone in the Desktop Dock, and the Clock app launches automatically, making it easy to: Check the local time and weather Set and clear alarms Watch a slideshow of your photos Play music Dim your phone's display for nighttime use.

In addition to these features, those who will go for the Nexus One Desktop Dock will also receive a 3.5mm-to-RCA audio cable that will offer them the possibility to connect the new dock to their stereo, so that they can listen the music on the Nexus One on a more powerful system. According to the guys over at androidauthority, the dock also comes with Bluetooth connectivity options, something that should prove pretty useful in various situations.

When the handset is placed into the dock, an interface that brings forth fast access to multimedia capabilities appears automatically, enabling users to enjoy the entertainment features of their device on various systems around the house. However, the dock still has to be close to the computer, and the same would apply to the stereo and the rest. One way or the other, the new Nexus One Desktop Dock seems to be a nice option for enthusiasts at least, and those who are interested in it will find it available on Google's web store, the same as Nexus One. Additional info on the dock's features and on what can be done with it are also available there.
