Google’s Nexus handsets have landed on shelves with pretty decent cameras so far, but it seems that things will get even better in the future.

In a recent comment on Google+, Google's Senior Vice President of Engineering, Vic Gundotra, confirmed that the company is committed to enhance the camera capabilities of these devices, although he did not offer further details on the matter.

“We are committed to making Nexus phones insanely great cameras. Just you wait and see,” Vic Gundotra said, as Android Central reports.

With Nokia stressing on the features of its PureView camera smartphones, it was only a matter of time before Google stepped up as well, though it remains to be seen what exactly will come to the Nexus lineup.

Some of the previous rumors suggested that Google might adopt Sony’s phone camera technology, at least for the long rumored Motorola X smartphone.
