The developers at the LEGO Group have announced that the Nexus Force Championships have been launched in their online game LEGO Universe, with the aim of finding the best players who can then take on the Maelstrom that threatens the force of Imagination.

The in-game championship will take place for eight full weeks and will allow each player to earn points by winning contests and events.

The big prize will be awarded to the Nexus Force Champion, who will get a new laptop computer, about 5,000 dollars in LEGO toy sets and bragging rights for the next year.

There will also be prizes awarded every week, for those who do best in racing, building and battling.

The LEGO Group hopes that this kind of event will draw in more players to the MMO while also creating a bigger sense of community in the game.

LEGO Universe is free-to-play and allows players of all ages, with a focus on kids, to unleash their imagination and their adventuring spirit.
