Remember how Google donated 17,000 Nexus 7 tablets to the New York State, one year after Hurricane Sandy?

Well, it seems that 5,000 of those tablets were donated further on to Queens Library, reports Infodocket. Now, registered users coming to borrow a book will also have the opportunity to take home a tablet for a whole month.

Users are granted the possibility to renew the request for up to three months. The slates will be available to loan from locations in the Rockaways.

The Library has pre-loaded these slates with its own software that covers “educational information, health resources, resources for job readiness and searching, resources for computer skill training, resources for literacy and learning” and much more.

On top of that, the tablets can be used to read e-books and magazines, without necessitating an internet connection.

Content is updated each time the user comes back to Queens Library or is in Wi-Fi vicinity. Of course, users can get to enjoy the full Nexus 7 tablet experience, being able to play games and stream media content.
