Google launched its dedicated K12 Google Play store for educators and students back in May. Since then, more than 50 schools have been immersed in the beta program, thus having access to apps, educational YouTube videos and books, all approved for use in the classroom.

After receiving feedback from the institutions involved in the program, Google is also adding tablets to the Google Play for Education program in the US.

“What’s been clear from their feedback is that teachers and IT administrators need time-saving solutions to help their students learn in the classroom and smooth the transition of new curriculum standards,” says the official blog post.

Therefore, Google will make three tablet solutions available for the educational environment, the Nexus 7, Asus Transformer Pad and the HP Slate 8 Pro. The first one is already available, with the other two coming in early 2014.

The administrator device can be used to set up all the student devices within minutes, so pupils can have access to educational content verified by teachers. They can also filter the information by subject, grade or standard.

The educational Google Nexus 7 will be available for $299 / €223, but management for the tablet will cost an extra $30 / €22 per slate.
